Week 8

Week eight has arrived. "And it's a fair wind blowin' warm, Out of the south over my shoulder, I guess I'll set a course and go"

It's time to walk over to your 4K Weeks Poster, and fill in one more square... Done?

Ok, here are a few brussel sprouts for your brain.

Thanks to everyone who responded to last week's "what are you excited about?"  It was awesome to read all the different things you all are into, and to get a little excited for you.  Keep changing the world!

This Week's Quote

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely." -Karen Clark

I chose this quote because it jives with the video I made for our IG page this week.

Everything is a choice, even if you deny that you are choosing. Everything is changing, even as you struggle in vain to keep it the same.

So, acknowledge that you are choosing... and know that with each choice you step closer to that person.

Every time you choose to do the hard thing, you are stepping towards being the person who isn't afraid of hard things.

Every time you choose to eat a candy bar, you are stepping towards...?

Everything is a choice between two future versions of yourself.

What I am Thinking About This Week

What if each of us is a universe unto ourselves, and no truths can truly be shared, only individually discovered? (parenting is hard)

How do you know that your color blue is the same as my color blue, and does it matter?

I am reading a great book for the second time, called The Art of Possibility by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander

There is a line that I can't stop thinking about.

"What assumption am I making, that I am not aware that I am making, that gives me what I see?"

Most of the world is imaginary, created in the small gap between sensory information coming in, and my brain's processing of that info... all the stories that I tell myself about "who I am", and what my world "IS" exist as filters between the actual information that comes in and the resulting thought I have.

What rules or "truths" am I assuming that aren't really...real?

It's possible that this puzzle will help you see what I mean... Connect these 9 dots, using only 4 straight lines, and without lifting the pen off the paper.

Don't google it... What assumptions are you making?  I'll share the solution next week.

Thanks for being a part of the journey with us! Please tell me if you liked/disliked the email this week.  Ask my wife... those are the only emails I like to get!
